Kegged the Ruination IPA clone

It should be ready fully carbonated in about two weeks, but since I’ve got a couple other kegs to finish first it will be a while before it gets tapped.  This batch was kind of experimental since I used a off beat malt extract (english light) and warrior hops instead of magnum.  I had some of the previous batch a couple weekends ago and from what I can recall it was better than this one.  Maybe some time will allow the flavors to mellow a bit.  We’ll see. 7.5% ABV

Black Death - on tap!

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

I just tapped the keg of Black Death Stout that I brewed back in November.  The chocolate malt and flaked barley give it a really nice mouth feel.  Manju says it’s not as good as last time but I think it turned out pretty darn good.  5.1% ABV.  Head retention was a problem in previous batches past but it’s awesome on this pint:

Racked the Ruination IPA

Wednesday, February 22nd, 2006

I racked the Ruination IPA clone to secondary this weekend. So far it’s at 7.5% ABV. I threw in two ounces of centennial hops to dry hop for a couple of weeks. That should give a nice hoppy aroma.

Warrior + Centennial = Ruination

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

I brewed up a clone of Stone Ruination IPA tonight, kind of spur of the moment.

The recipe called for magnum as the bittering hop but all I could get my hands on were warrior. They definitely seem up to the task at 16.4%. We’ll see how it turns out.
